At my home, I am using ABC broadband internet connection. I am not going to write here the name, because it doesn’t matter here.
Before a few days ago, I got my monthly bill of internet. It was approx eight hundred rupees. You must be thinking that why I am telling you about my internet connection, my month bill and all these stuffs. I am telling you all these things because I want to tell you that how my monthly bill is affecting the environment. Sounds very strange? I know it is. Let me explain.
ABC sends bill to me end of every month through a courier service. Its basically hard copy of my bill consists of 8 to 10 white papers. In the whole bill, there is only one thing of my concern and that is my bill amount. Now think, just to inform me about my monthly bill, ABC sends me a bunch of papers through a courier service. ABC has at least more than 2-3 lacks users in the whole country. They send monthly bill to their every user in the same manner i.e. hard copy of bill. ABC is company which provides the internet service all over India. It means every user of ABC must have internet and they know how to use internet.
Now my point is, ABC can send monthly bill to every user through email and can save these wastage of papers. Just try to calculate the number of papers which ABC is wasting per month and Wastage of papers is not environment friendly. Not only ABC, there are lot of companies who do the same thing. Just to inform their users about the monthly bill, they send a bunch of papers. This is ridiculous. Is there any worth of sending users (who uses internet) their bill every month through this way? Definitely the answer would be no. Because everyone just check their billing amount and throw that paper in dustbin. They can check their bill on the internet also.
This is a very simple thing, but I don’t know why these big companies/organizations don’t try to understand it. This is not a single example; I can give you so many examples of wastage of white papers in big companies/organizations.
I am telling you about a bank. They use an internal application/software which generates their receipts. The application/software is designed in such a way that it prints the receipts in two papers, not in a single paper. Most of the parts of receipt cover in the single paper. In the 2nd paper, there would be a single line which is worthless or useless for them. Now just try to calculate the number of papers which they are wasting.
Now, there are a lot of questions in front of me and I don’t have their answers. In fact I also don’t know about the availability of answers. God knows
